SOUTHLAND is currently seeking a Journeyperson Mechanic to join our team of maintenance professionals. This role is responsible for servicing/repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a safe, effective, and effective manner. This position is not confined to shop activities as the Mechanic may be required to perform field work on down buses. Duties
Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses
Diagnosing equipment problems
CVIP Inspections
Respond to breakdowns
Spring and winter maintenance
Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities
Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines
Requirements
Journeyperson Ticket
Own hand tools
Fluent in written and spoken English
2 – 5 years related experience
Valid driver’s license (Class 2 or 3 considered an asset)
CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License considered an asset
Analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to comprehend/operate diagnostic and manual measuring tools, including micrometers, brake drum gauge, Ohmmeters, and AVR (Amps, Volts & Resistors)
Computer proficiency
Remuneration
Hourly rate - $34 – $38 per hour based on experience
Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday)

Annual Tool and Boot Allowance - $750 (pro-rated from start date - available in last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year)
