Compensation: $582 - $667 daily
Travel and food allowance: up to $125 per day included in daily rate
Pension: $4.75/hr or approximately $10,200 per year - 100% paid by Portland Canal

Shift Rotation: 4 weeks in 2 weeks out

We are looking for professional Class 1 Truck Drivers to join us and become part of our Portland Canal family in Stewart, BC. We offer accommodations, fly in and out, daily travel and food allowance in a beautiful and welcoming northern B.C. community.
As a Portland Canal Transportation Limited Partnership driver, you will be hauling copper ore using B-train trailers for our Red Chris Copper Ore Haul and/or our Pretium Bruce Jack Copper Ore Haul. You will travel on various highways and high mountain mining roads in and around the Stewart area.
This position is scheduled to begin on October 1, 2026 with training provided in advance to ensure all drivers are fully prepared and ready to operate on the start date.
Responsibilities
Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations.
Perform pre and post andenroute trip inspections on equipmentoperated, ensuring safety,roadworthinessand regulatory compliance.
Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions.
Complywithall rules and regulations, protocols andestablishedmetrics.
Efficiently maneuver truckand trailer(s)into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
Mayoperateloading equipment as per role requirements.
Check mobile equipment (i.e.frontendloaders) to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order.
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor.
Report all safety hazards or conditionsencounteredat load, unload,yardand shop sites.
Record,Maintainand Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading,) and documentation to ensure that it is complete andaccurate.
Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases,
supervisors, or other drivers.
Complete electronicand/or manuallogs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations.
Communicate effectively and courteously with the public, customers, and co-workers.
Assistin loading and unloading of trucks.
Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure.
Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements.Tarping loads may be a requirement.
Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up.
Provide feedback to supervisor/dispatchregardingcustomer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems.
Ensure that all customers,co-workersand the public are dealt with professionally and with respect.
Train others whenrequired.
You Possess
Class 1 truck driver’s license
Minimum 5 years Class 1 driving experience
Previous super B, mountain, and winter driving experience is required
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
At least two job references
Air brake endorsement
Ability to move 100 pounds, lift 50 lbs overhead and lift to shoulder height 75lbs
Ability to sit long durations
Ability to pass pre-employment drug test
Ability to take and follow direction
Ability to understand cross training on all functions at facility
Demonstrates strong communication skills both verbally and written
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working setting
Computer Literate
Basic understanding of vehicle and trailer maintenance requirements
Organizational abilities including task prioritization and adherence to timelines
Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations
