About the Opportunity Our client is seeking an Accounting & Assurance Manager to join their growing public accounting practice in Ottawa. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA with broad public accounting experience who enjoys working across accounting, assurance and corporate tax rather than specializing in one area. The Manager will oversee a diverse portfolio of privately held and owner-managed clients across a variety of industries, with responsibility for compilation, review and audit engagements, financial statement preparation and corporate tax compliance. The role offers significant client exposure, leadership responsibility and the prospect to provide broader business and accounting advice. Key Responsibilities Manage multiple accounting, assurance and tax engagements simultaneously, ensuring assignments are completed accurately and within established timelines
Plan, organize and oversee compilation, review and audit engagements from planning through completion
Review financial statements, note disclosures, corporate tax returns and other client deliverables
Perform analytical reviews of financial information and identify accounting, assurance and tax matters requiring further attention
Review and provide guidance on T2 corporate tax returns and related tax matters
Develop strong relationships with clients and provide practical accounting and general business advice based on an understanding of their operations and industries
Lead, coach and develop junior and intermediate staff, including delegating work, reviewing files, providing feedback and supporting career development
Monitor engagement progress, budgets and profitability while ensuring a high standard of client service
Identify opportunities to improve internal processes, best practices and overall efficiency
Participate in business development initiatives, networking and the identification of opportunities to expand client relationships and service offerings
Qualifications CPA designation required
5-7 years of progressive experience within a public accounting firm including minimum 1 year in a managerial role
Bilingual French/English strongly preferred but not required
Broad public accounting experience across financial statement preparation, compilation engagements, assurance and corporate tax
Strong experience managing review and audit engagements
Experience preparing and/or reviewing T2 corporate tax returns
Experience managing client engagements and developing robust client relationships
Demonstrated experience supervising, coaching and developing junior and intermediate accounting professionals
Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly to clients and team members
Proficiency with CaseWare/CaseView, Taxprep and Microsoft Office; experience with QuickBooks and/or Sage 50 is an asset
