Support Indigenous students and families as an Indigenous Education Worker in Schools, guiding them through the educational journey and promoting community participation.
The Indigenous Education Worker supports Indigenous students' emotional and academic needs by fostering meaningful relationships with teachers, families, and community agencies. This role is crucial for developing and implementing individual education plans for students facing challenges. You will engage with parents, provide traditional guidance, and promote Indigenous cultural events within the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Advocate for Indigenous students within the school system
• Assist teachers in meeting Indigenous students' educational needs
• Conduct home and community visits
• Facilitate parental involvement in Indigenous advisory committees
• Develop academic interventions for students with challenging behaviors
Requirements:
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 60 college credits in relevant courses
• Two years of experience working with Indigenous youth
• Valid British Columbia driver’s license
• Solid cultural knowledge and communication skills
