Become a vital support system for homeless adults with Lookout Housing and Health Society in Duncan, BC. As a Shelter Resource Worker, you will assist vulnerable individuals while collaborating with community resources to ensure their safety and well-being.
This casual role requires working various shifts, including days, afternoons, and nights, within a 24/7 emergency shelter. The Shelter Resource Worker plays a crucial part in welcoming guests, conducting intakes, and providing essential support. You will engage with public service agencies and contribute to a healthy environment that promotes recovery and stability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide support and supervision for homeless adults in need
• Conduct intakes and share information with external resources
• Refer guests to appropriate community services
• Maintain accurate records and statistical data
• Ensure safety and support within the shelter workplace
Requirements:
• Related Certificate or Grade 12 education with two years' experience
• Familiarity with community resources for addiction and mental health
• Current Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate
• Crisis intervention skills and trauma-informed practice training are assets
• Ability to work independently or in teams
