Engage with students as a Teaching Assistant for Calculus for the Life Sciences at the University of Ottawa. This role, starting January 2027, focuses on student contact, providing learning support in person.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking three dedicated Teaching Assistants for the Winter 2027 semester. With 50 hours allocated, your primary responsibility will be to support and engage with approximately 244 students. Ideal candidates should possess at least 30 credits in mathematics and statistics with a strong grasp of the subject matter.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist students during office hours and class sessions
• Facilitate discussions to enhance understanding of calculus concepts
• Provide timely feedback to student inquiries
• Collaborate closely with supervising professor Loic Cappanera
• Maintain an inclusive and respectful learning environment
Requirements:
• Minimum 30 credits in mathematics/statistics
• Robust understanding of calculus material
• Experience engaging with academic content
• Ability to work in person
• Graduate students preferred for priority consideration
