Req ID: 227688 Location: Central Zone, Nova Scotia Rehabilitation and Arthritis Centre - QEII Department: OPCZ MSK Physiotherapy Type of Employment: Casual Hourly FT long-assignment (100%) x 1 Union: NSGEU Healthcare Position Posting Closing Date: 15-Oct-26 About the Opportunity The Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) reports to the Program Manager of the Musculoskeletal, Amputation, and Neuro inpatient units located at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation and Arthritis Centre.

The Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) is an active member of the health care team who works with individuals, families and groups to educate, promote health, and increase or maintain function and activity throughout all stages of health and complexities of illness.

As part of an inter-skilled team, the PTA works effectively to provide optimal physiotherapy care and to assist the patient in achieving their physiotherapy goals.

The PTA motivates and encourages the patient to meet their expected outcomes by contributing to the valuation, implementation and ongoing modification of the patient's physiotherapy program and by participating in the provision of holistic and comprehensive physiotherapy care. PTAs can complete standardized outcome measures as part of the physiotherapist's assessment and implement assigned physiotherapy treatment plans, in alignment with national and provincial physiotherapy standards.

The PTA is responsible to communicate frequently with the physiotherapist and to obtain the relevant information to provide safe accountable care.

The PTA incorporates critical thinking,



effective communication, and formal education to deliver high quality of care to patients.

About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following: Graduate from a recognized Community College Physiotherapist Assistant program that meets the standard set by Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada. BCLS Ability to communicate well with patients, their families and health care team members Must be cooperative and possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with physiotherapy and health care team members Organizational ability to complete assigned work and manage changing staffing and caseload levels Previous experience working with physically and/or cognitively impaired people is an asset Knowledge of proper body mechanics, anatomy, basic computer skills and training in electro-physical agents and other physiotherapy specific interventions Knowledge of common diseases and disabilities as well as the treatments, precautions and contraindications for them Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Please ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.





Hours Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweekly Approximately 12 months Compensation and Advantages $25.84 - $30.85 Hourly Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
