Select People Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a General Manager of Child Care to provide strategic and operational leadership across their licensed child care programs. This senior leadership position is ideal for an experienced child care professional who understands the complexities of multi-site operations and can balance exceptional program quality with solid financial, regulatory, and people leadership.

Reporting to the COO, the successful candidate will lead managers and program teams while overseeing operational planning, workforce development, financial performance, licensing compliance, service quality, and continued program growth.

Compensation & Hours:
The rate of pay will be $72,800-$94,000/year, based on experience and certifications
Full time, permanent position
Based in Medicine Hat, Alberta
Monday through Friday, daytime hours
Regular travel between program locations will be required

Position Summary:
Provide strategic and operational oversight of licensed early-years and out-of-school-care programs across multiple locations
Lead, coach, and develop program managers while supporting workforce planning, succession planning, employee development, and a strong culture of accountability
Ensure programs consistently meet licensing requirements, legislation, funding agreements, child safeguarding standards, health and safety requirements, and organizational policies




Establish and monitor departmental goals, performance indicators, quality standards, and operational plans aligned with broader organizational objectives
Build strong relationships with families, community partners, school divisions, regulatory bodies, funding agencies, and other stakeholders while identifying opportunities for program growth and service enhancement

Required Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years of progressive leadership experience within licensed child care, early learning, education, or human services
Minimum 3 years of experience leading managers and overseeing multi-site operations
Demonstrated experience managing budgets, operational plans, performance outcomes, and organizational priorities
Strong knowledge of provincial child care legislation, licensing requirements, funding agreements, risk management, and applicable employment and safety requirements
Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams while navigating complex employee, parent, operational, and regulatory matters
Standard First Aid, CPR & AED certification
Explicit Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search where applicable
Valid Drivers License and appropriate automobile insurance for occasional business use
Strong communication, conflict resolution, decision-making, and relationship-building skills

Bonus Points For:
Child Development Certificate - Level 3, or the ability to obtain Level 3 certification with current credentials
Experience with program growth, expansion, or increasing enrolment/occupancy
Experience developing and implementing quality assurance or continuous improvement initiatives
Previous involvement in strategic planning, change management, or senior leadership teams
