The University of Toronto seeks an Assistant Professor specializing in Indigenous Knowledge Systems for a full time tenure stream position. Starting July 1, 2027, this role focuses on innovative research and teaching.
As part of the Centre for Indigenous Studies, the successful candidate will contribute to developing a graduate program while enhancing existing strengths in the department. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in research and teaching, with experience in community engagement and curriculum development. Additionally, expertise in Indigenous pedagogies and knowledge systems is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Pursue independent innovative research
• Establish a competitive, externally funded research program
• Engage in the development of graduate offerings
• Teach Indigenous and non-Indigenous students effectively
• Collaborate with community leaders and educators
Requirements:
• PhD in Indigenous Studies or related area
• Record of excellence in research and publications
• Experience teaching in degree-granting programs
• Long-term engagement with Indigenous communities
• Knowledge of Indigenous languages is an asset
