Role Overview Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management, the Senior Lead, Reliability is responsible for leading enterprise-level reliability improvement across operating sites, with a primary focus on increasing maintenance availability, reducing equipment-related downtime, and improving the effectiveness of maintenance strategies for critical fixed and mobile assets.
The role works directly with site Maintenance, Reliability, Planning, Operations, and Engineering teams to identify the principal drivers of lost availability, determine the underlying equipment and maintenance causes, and develop prioritized actions that deliver measurable improvements in asset performance.
Using equipment health, work management, failure, delay, and operating data, the Senior Lead, Reliability identifies chronic losses and bad actors, challenges ineffective maintenance practices, optimizes preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and supports sites in closing reliability gaps. The role ensures Central Asset Management standards and reliability methods translate into sustained improvements in availability, reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and lifecycle performance.
Key Responsibilities Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Lead structured analysis of maintenance-related availability losses, including planned and unplanned downtime, equipment delays, repeat failures,

and extended maintenance durations.
Develop and optimize reliability strategies for critical fixed and mobile assets using RCM, FMEA, failure history, condition monitoring, criticality, and operating data.
Lead or facilitate root cause investigations for significant or recurring failures and ensure corrective actions address underlying causes rather than symptoms.
Assess whether preventive and predictive maintenance programs are producing the intended reliability and availability outcomes.
Partner with Planning, Scheduling, and Maintenance teams to identify work management issues that contribute to downtime and availability loss.
Provide technical coaching and practical support to site Reliability Engineers, Maintenance Engineers, Planners, and maintenance leadership.
Work with Process and Plant Engineering and Asset Integrity teams to resolve equipment design, operating, and integrity-related failure mechanisms.
Use performance data, benchmarking, and lessons learned to identify and implement sustainable reliability and maintenance improvements.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related engineering discipline or related experience.
Typically 10+ years of maintenance, reliability, or engineering experience in mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, or another asset-intensive operating setting.

Strong practical understanding of maintenance execution, equipment failure mechanisms, and reliability improvement.
Experience working directly with site Maintenance and Operations teams to implement sustained equipment performance improvements.
Strong knowledge of reliability methods, including RCM, FMEA, RCA, bad-actor elimination, defect elimination, and condition monitoring.
Demonstrated capability in availability and downtime analysis, MTBF and MTTR analysis, failure Pareto analysis, repeat-failure analysis, and planned-versus-unplanned maintenance performance.
Ability to translate equipment, maintenance, and operating data into prioritized improvement actions.
Proficiency with CMMS or EAM systems, reliability KPIs, and analytical and visualization tools.
Influence without direct authority across operating sites and functional teams.
Translate technical findings into clear business and operational priorities for both technical and senior audiences.
Pay Range: CAD $138,000 - $170,000 per year
