Position Summary
RDP invites applications for a Continuous Appointment (Probationary) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology Instructor to join the School of Trades and Technology.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of a Transport Canada-aligned Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology diploma program. The instructor will deliver classroom, laboratory, hangar, and industry-integrated learning experiences that support student success and strengthen industry relationships.

This position will play a key role in establishing RDP's aviation training capacity and supporting the development of future Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) for Alberta and Canada's aviation industry.

Position Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to be an active member of the faculty and the polytechnic community, participating fully in activities undertaken by the program on and off campus.

Job Duties will include:

Deliver theory and practical instruction in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology.
Facilitate student learning in classroom, laboratory, hangar, and field environments.
Develop and maintain curriculum, instructional resources, and assessment tools.
Support Transport Canada compliance and accreditation requirements. Including taking on the role as Person Responsible for Training.
Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
Supervise and assess student practical projects and work-integrated learning experiences.
Maintain currency in aviation maintenance practices, regulations,



and emerging technologies.
Participate in program quality assurance, curriculum review, and continuous improvement activities.
Support industry engagement initiatives and foster partnerships with aviation employers.
Participate in institutional service activities, faculty meetings, committees, and applied research initiatives as appropriate.
Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and student success.

Required Qualifications
Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) License issued by Transport Canada in one or more categories: AME-M (Mechanical)
AME-E (Avionics)
AME-S (Structures)

Minimum five years of recent industry experience in aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul, inspection, or related aviation operations.
Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Transport Canada standards.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse learners and stakeholders.
Commitment to safety, professionalism, and continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or instructional experience.
Diploma, degree, or advanced credential in aviation, aerospace,



engineering technology, or related discipline.
Experience with Transport Canada-approved training programs.
Experience in commercial aviation, rotary-wing operations, regional aviation, military aviation, or Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) environments.
Curriculum development experience.
Credential in adult education, technical training, or post-secondary instruction.
Experience supporting work-integrated learning, apprenticeships, or cooperative education programs.
