Work Term: Permanent Work Language: English or French Hours: 160 hours per month Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years Mechanic and repair technologies/technicians, other Nautical science/merchant marine officer Work site environment Confined spaces Dangerous Noisy In/on water Work setting Staff accommodation available Staff accommodation provided Various locations Ship Tasks Conduct maintenance and emergency repairs to engines, machinery and all auxiliary equipment Inspect maintenance and emergency repairs done on engines, machinery and all auxiliary equipment Operate main engines, machinery and auxiliary equipment on ships Supervise and co-ordinate activities of engine room crew Stand engine room watch, monitoring and noting performance of engines, machinery and all auxiliary equipment Maintain records and prepare reports on engine performance and failures Control and extinguish fires using manual and power equipment Administer first aid in emergency situations Ensure that the installation, maintenance, repair and overhaul of systems meet Transport Canada and company standards of performance and safety Supervision 3-4 people Certificates, licences, memberships,
