Join Main Street Project as a Peer Support Worker focused on harm reduction and client-centered care in Winnipeg. This part-time role supports those facing homelessness and substance use.
As a Peer Support Worker within the Harm Reduction team, you will provide essential support rooted in trauma-informed care. Leveraging your lived experience, you will connect individuals to necessary resources while assisting with food and hygiene needs. Your role is vital in promoting dignity, respect, and wellness among vulnerable populations in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide immediate needs: food, hygiene supplies, and first aid
• Develop non-judgmental, supportive relationships
• Assist in light food preparation and coffee service
• Support medication data collection and surveys
• Facilitate communication with program managers and case staff
Requirements:
• Lived experience with homelessness or substance use
• Ability to work within a client-centered care framework
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture and TRC actions
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Cooperative team player with a commitment to harm reduction
