Overview of Position: Set up and operate manual equipment to machine forgings to required specifications
Responsibilities: Set up and operate manual equipment
Machine product to specified requirements as defined within production shop orders, drawings and sketches or as directed by the management of Patriot Forge
Read and interpret blueprints
Apply metrology knowledge and experience as necessary
Operate overhead cranes and forklifts for material handling of large products
Maintain equipment in safe and productive condition, including but not limited to, regular routine lubrication, cleaning, and maintaining coolant levels
Practice excellent general housekeeping, including but not limited to, his/her work area, chip removal, floor areas, benches, storage areas to ensure a safe work environment
Shovel chips generated by machinery; grind parts and assist and support fellow employees in their duties, when/as required




Maintain proper working condition of measuring instruments by regular cleaning. Store instruments in a safe location both during use and after completion of use
Comply with H&S; management program and policies
Experience: High school diploma is required and post-secondary machinist related education is an asset
Experience in a manufacturing environment and a Certificate of Qualification are assets
A valuable understanding of machining principles is essential
Previous experience with the setup and operation of manual equipment is preferred
Good knowledge of cutting tools as well as speeds and feeds an asset
Good command of the English language both written and verbal
Familiarity with material handling equipment (overhead cranes and forklifts) and the safe handling of large objects
Demonstrated communication, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills
