As a Bridge Patrol Officer , you’ll play an important role in keeping one of Halifax’s most important transportation routes safe. This is a highly visible position where professionalism, communication, sound judgment, andattention to detail are just asimportant as securityexperience.

You’ll patrol assignedareas, monitor forsafety and securityconcerns,interact with thepublic and sitepersonnel, and respondcalmly and professionallywhen situations arise.

Responsibilities for Bridge Patrol
As a Bridge Patrol Officer , you will beresponsible for maintaininga safe andsecure environment throughproactive patrols, monitoring, incident response, andenforcement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct regular patrolsof assigned bridges, surrounding areas, anddesignated sites

Monitor security systems, alarms, cameras,



and other equipmentfor suspicious activityor safety concerns

Respond promptly toalarms, incidents, emergencies, and potential securitythreats

Act as afirst responder andtake appropriate actionuntil emergency servicesarrive

Conduct speed enforcementand issue ticketsas authorized

Perform by-lawenforcement andcontrol access torestricted areas

Verify the identityof visitors andensure only authorizedindividuals access secureareas

Prepare clear, accurate, and detailed incidentand activity reports

Document suspiciousactivity, safety concerns, accidents, and othersignificant events

Apply professional de-escalation techniques whendealing with challengingsituations

Communicate and coordinateeffectively with Police, Fire, EHS, and other emergencyservices

Perform court-related duties andprovide information ortestimony when required

Wear required PPE, including hard hat, safetyboots, and otherprotective equipment

Work safely invaryingand extreme weatherconditions, including sun, rain, snow, high winds, andextreme temperatures

Identify and reportsecurity system malfunctions, vulnerabilities,or other siteconcerns

Maintain a professionaland visible presencewhile interacting withemployees, contractors,visitors, and the public





Maintain eligibility toobtain Peace Officer status and complete allrequired training

Qualifications for Bridge Patrol
We’re looking forindividuals who areprofessional, observant,dependable, and comfortableworking independently.

Legally authorized towork in Canada

Able to Obtain a Security Guard Licence

Valid First AidCertification

Strong written communicationand report-writingskills

Excellent observation skillsand attention todetail

Ability to remaincalm, focused, andalert throughout theshift

Strong communication andinterpersonal skills

Comfortableinteracting with employees, contractors, visitors,and members of the public

Comfortable using computers, mobiledevices, and securitytechnology

Ability to assesssituations and makesound decisions

Ability to workindependently while alsocollaborating effectivelywithemergency services andteam members

Professional customer serviceapproach

Willingness to learnanddevelop new skills

2 consecutive dayshifts followed by2 consecutive nightshifts

12-hour shifts

Must be flexibleto work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
