Responsibilities Surface Preparation: Clean and degrease parts to ensure optimal abrasive adhesion and prevent contamination. This may include removing welds, machining marks, deep scratches, or other initial imperfections.
Tool Selection and Use: Choose the right abrasives (discs, belts, wheels, polishing pastes) and “equipment (polishers, grinders, brushes) based on the type of stainless steel, the” initial surface condition, and the desired finish.
Application of Polishing Techniques: Use various polishing techniques, ranging from roughing (removal of major defects) to final buffing (mirror finish), including satin finishing or brushing. This requires outstanding dexterity and knowledge of appropriate movements to achieve a uniform finish.
Quality Control:



Visually inspect parts throughout and at the end of the process to ensure the finish meets required specifications (roughness, brightness, absence of defects).
Equipment Maintenance: Regularly maintain and clean polishing tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
Adherence to Safety Standards: Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) (safety glasses, gloves, respiratory protection) and follow safety procedures for handling rotary tools and metal dust.
