JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the department supervisor, the Lead Offset Press Operator is responsible for operating, setup, and optimization of presses (sheet-fed or web, depending on the plant) to ensure safe, effective production that meets quality standards.
They also act as a key resource person and leader for their work team. YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Analyze production files and manufacturing priorities.
Prepare the press and raw materials according to job specifications.
Perform necessary adjustments and make-readies to ensure an effective and compliant startup.
Validate product quality prior to launch and ensure quality control throughout the run.
Adjust printing parameters to maintain quality and productivity standards.
Identify and handle non-conformities while minimizing raw material waste.
Participate in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or operational issues.
Coordinate team activities, distribute tasks, and support the training of new employees.
Ensure effective communication during shift handovers.
Comply with and enforce occupational health and safety rules.
Participate in preventive maintenance, cleaning, 5S initiatives,
and continuous improvement activities. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE DEP, AEC, or relevant printing industry experience.
Minimum of 8 years of experience as a lead offset press operator, on sheet-fed or web presses (the type of experience determines plant placement).
Mastery of the feeder and ability to operate the press's main control screen.
Strong technical autonomy from day one, including a good understanding of the printing process and hands-on experience handling ink.
Mechanical aptitude and strong interest in industrial equipment. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE Strong leadership and ability to motivate a team.
