About us: The Dalla Lana School of Public Health is a Faculty of the University of Toronto that originated as one of the Schools of Hygiene begun by the Rockefeller Foundation in 1927. The School, which plays a critical role in the COVID-19 pandemic response, went through a dramatic renaissance after the 2003 SARS crisis and it is now the largest public health school in Canada, with more than 850 faculty, 1,000 students, and research and training partnerships with institutions throughout Toronto and the world. With $53.3 million in research funding per year, the School contributes to improving population health and health policy and health systems through discoveries and innovation in data science and AI, maternal, child and reproductive health, climate change, implementation and improvement sciences, preventable disease through vaccines and prevention through wellness such as with diabetes, comparative health policy, sustainable and equitable health systems, global and Indigenous health, among many other areas. This past year, $10 million philanthropic dollars was raised for research, education and knowledge translation, and the over 7000 alumni were deeply engaged through events and networking opportunities.

Your opportunity: The Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow's Health (CanPath), housed at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, is Canada's largest population cohort study and a national platform for population-level health research. CanPath enables researchers to investigate how genetics, environment, lifestyle, and behaviour interact to influence the development of cancer and other chronic diseases. Through health, demographic, and biological data voluntarily contributed by more than 350,000 Canadians, CanPath supports researchers across the country in advancing knowledge and improving population health.

As Research Access & Contracts Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the responsible access, use, and administration of CanPath data and resources. Working closely with researchers, sponsors, institutional partners, and internal stakeholders, you will facilitate research access processes, support the review and administration of research agreements, and ensure compliance with University policies, ethical requirements, and regulatory obligations.

Your responsibilities will include:

Coordinating research agreement and contract administration, including drafting, reviewing, and administering research agreements, contracts, and partnership agreements while ensuring compliance with University policies, sponsor requirements, and regulatory standards

Supporting research administration and compliance activities, including reviewing funding proposals and agreements,



monitoring reporting requirements and deadlines, supporting research ethics and privacy processes, and advising on policy and procedural requirements

Supporting stakeholder engagement and partnerships, including liaising with researchers, sponsors, collaborators, and project partners, coordinating meetings and communications, and facilitating research-related initiatives

Supporting knowledge sharing, including developing, maintaining, and implementing standard operating procedures, training content and guidelines, communicating committee decisions, and contributing to activities that enhance program visibility and reputation

Supporting operational and financial activities, including tracking project milestones, verifying grant submissions and invoices, collaborating on cost estimates, developing procedures and training materials, and recommending process improvements

Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience

Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting research administration, contract administration, grants administration, or a related function within an academic or research environment

Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and administering research agreements, sponsor terms, compliance terms, contracts, and other legal documents

Experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures, sponsor requirements, and regulatory guidelines, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements

Experience supporting research funding activities, including proposal development, sponsor requirements, reporting obligations, or grant administration

Experience monitoring compliance requirements and identifying issues requiring escalation or review

Experience coordinating projects, meetings, timelines, and stakeholder communications

Experience developing, maintaining, and implementing procedures, standard operating procedures, or training materials

Experience fostering and maintaining effective relationships with researchers, sponsors, partners, and other internal and external stakeholders

Knowledge of research administration practices, research ethics requirements, privacy legislation, and regulatory compliance frameworks

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint), project management software (e.g., Asana) and Zoom

Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess complex issues and recommend practical solutions independently

Strong attention to detail and ability to review documentation for accuracy and compliance

Excellent written and verbal communication skills,



including the ability to explain policies, procedures, and contractual requirements to diverse audiences

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines

Assets (Nonessential):

Public health/population health experience and/or a Master of Public Health

Experience with streamlining administrative processes
