The Position
The Overdose Prevention Site (OPS) Coordinator supports the delivery of low-barrier harm reduction services, including delivery of drug checking service, by coordinating daily site operations, scheduling shifts, and fostering collaboration among staff, peers, and community partners. The role contributes to a safe, welcoming, and participant-centered environment by guiding OPS staff, supporting client care, and ensuring services are consistent with harm reduction, trauma-informed, and culturally safe practices.

Hourly wage: $31.98 per hour

Reports to : Community Health Services Manager

Qualifications

Diploma in a human services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience coordinating services for people with lived and living experience of substance use.

Knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed practice, and culturally safe care.

Strong communication, collaboration, and conflict de-escalation skills.

Knowledge of WorkSafeBC safety programs and critical incident reporting.

Familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications.

Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check clearance.

Valid Drivers license and vehicle

Successful completion of BCCSU Drug Checking Technician Training within two months of appointment.

Skills

Strong leadership, team coordination, scheduling, and staff mentoring skills

Knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed practice, and culturally safe care

Experience supporting people with lived and living experience of substance use

Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills

Effective conflict resolution, crisis response, and de-escalation skillsAbility to coordinate client services, referrals, and community resources





Strong organizational, administrative, documentation, and reporting skills

Knowledge of workplace safety and critical incident procedures

Ability to build positive relationships with community partners and service providers

Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications

Working Condition and Physical Requirements

Responds to medical emergencies such as overdoses, falls, and mental health crises.

Uses industrial-strength cleaning supplies and equipment.

Must be physically able to safely lift up to 50lbs.
