Summary of the role
We are looking to hire a Research Coordinator to join our research team led by Colleen Webber. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating health services research projects, with primary responsibility for a research program focused on measuring and improving quality of care in long-term care.
The position will involve both research coordination and substantive contributions to research activities, including study planning, Research Ethics Board submissions and adherence, participant recruitment, qualitative and mixed methods research, data collection and analysis, and knowledge translation, under the mentorship and guidance of the Principal Investigator. This may include the development and oversight of project budgets.
Main duties and responsibilities
Overseeing the day-to-day activities of the research project with general supervision
Coordinating logistics for the research project, including facilitating meetings, establishing project schedules, timelines, and milestones
Contributing to the design and implementation of qualitative and mixed-methods research, including development of research tools, data collection, coding and analysis.
Tracking and reconciling expenses against budget and projections of future expenses
Corresponding with external stakeholders and investigators
Working with investigator and team to ensure timely drafting and submission of reports,
publications, presentations and grants
Providing leadership, supervision and support to staff and students as required
Assisting with writing protocol development, complete ethics applications and liaise with the ethics office.
Coordinating Research Ethics Board (REB) applications and ongoing approvals (study amendments, continuing reviews, study closure forms, etc.)
Drafting meeting agendas and taking meeting minutes
Performing financial tasks, such as submitting invoices and expense tracking against the project budget
Supporting project management of research projects and grant applications
Additional duties may be added as projects progress
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in health sciences or related field. Master's degree in epidemiology, health services research, health research methods, or a related discipline is preferred
2+ years of experience in health services research or related field
Experience with qualitative or mixed-methods research
Research experience in long-term care or palliative care is an asset
1+ years’ relevant project coordination experience including areas such as budget development and knowledge of granting agency requirements
Fluency in French and English is an asset
Strong research, analytical and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Exceptional communication skills, including written and verbal
Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage overlapping project phases and meet deadlines
Excellent analytical and organizational skills, including the ability to adapt to a energetic project environment
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
