We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Controller to join our Finance and Accounting team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will oversee the company’s day-to‑day accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Accounting

Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements

Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules

Review financial results and provide meaningful variance analysis and commentary to the CFO

Ensure accounting records are complete, accurate and maintained in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies

Oversee general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and corporate credit cards

Maintain financial reporting and supporting records across multiple companies, projects and legal entities

Budgeting, Forecasting and Cash Management

Support project budgeting by working with departments and evaluating project requirements

Prepare project budgets for finance related activities

Monitor cash flow and assist with short- and long-term cash forecasting

Track actual performance against budgets,



forecasts and project pro formas

Review monthly bank financing packages

Liaise with cost monitor and project partners on loan draw requests

Prepare cash calls for partners on land development projects

Controls, Compliance and Audit

Develop, document and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures and internal controls

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy and operational efficiency

Coordinate year-end files and serve as a primary contact for external accountants

Support corporate tax filings, sales tax remittances and other regulatory reporting requirements

Ensure compliance with banking, financing and reporting obligations

Maintain organized financial records

Leadership and Collaboration

Partner with internal teams, including Construction, Sales, Development, Contracts and Operations

Communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders

Support the CFO with special projects, process improvements and strategic initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or a related discipline

Chartered Professional Accountant designation is required

Minimum of seven years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience

Previous experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller or comparable senior accounting position

Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting and cash-flow management

Experience in real estate development, residential construction or homebuilding is strongly preferred

Experience working with multiple companies, projects or legal entities is an asset

Proven experience managing or mentoring accounting team members

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with accounting or ERP systems

Experience supporting external audits and tax-related reporting
