Be a part of York Hills as a Peer Support Navigator on a six-month contract. Support youth aged 12 to 25 as they navigate mental health challenges and community resources.
In this role, you will collaborate with the Youth Wellness Hub York Region team, providing emotional and practical support to youth dealing with mental health and substance use issues. Your lived experience will be invaluable in connecting with clients and assisting them in achieving their personal goals. This position emphasizes outreach, individualized mentorship, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide informal counseling using your lived experience
• Support youth in navigating community resources
• Assist in planning and facilitating workshops
• Collaborate with teams to ensure seamless care
• Facilitate outreach programs to engage youth
Requirements:
• Up to two years in youth mental health settings
• Lived experience with mental health challenges
• Solid knowledge of York Region community services
• Post-secondary diploma/degree in related fields
• Ability to foster therapeutic relationships
