Engage with youth facing homelessness as a Street Outreach Worker at Covenant House in downtown Toronto. This full-time role focuses on building trust, providing crisis support, and connecting youth to essential services.
As a Street Outreach Worker, you will directly support vulnerable youth while utilizing trauma-informed practices and harm reduction strategies. Your responsibilities include conducting outreach in community settings, assessing youth needs, providing basic necessities, and connecting them with housing and healthcare services. You'll also engage with community partners to foster collaboration and ensure resources are available for youth in need.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct outreach in encampments and local shelters
• Build trusting relationships with at-risk youth
• Provide food,
hygiene items, and crisis interventions
• Administer harm reduction tools and naloxone
• Support youth in navigating social services
Requirements:
• Diploma in Child & Youth Work or Social Work
• 2–3 years’ experience with vulnerable youth
• Knowledge of community resources and crisis management
• Commitment to trauma-informed and harm reduction approaches
• Robust relational skills and crisis intervention training
