Purpose of position
The primary focus will be on maintaining company owned facilities and equipment to the highest standard, through preventative scheduled maintenance as well as dealing with emergency repairs affecting operational requirements. The position also requires experience in managing contractor activities ensuring all Facilities equipment is maintained and operational as required.
Key responsibilities
- Investigate, repair and/or assist contractors in maintenance and repairs of heating, cooling and ventilation systems and related facilities equipment.
- Carry out preventative maintenance programs on HVAC, Security, Electrical and Fire Protection equipment, as well as other mechanical systems within all buildings.
- Install, relocate, rearrange and move workstations, computers, desks and file cabinets. Consistent with the requirements of the organization and considering such factors as lighting, location and site.
- Maintains operating condition of building and equipment and completes simple repairs. Utilizes knowledge of fundamental HVAC, mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing skills performing assignments as required.
- Operate common hand power tools and heavy equipment including boom lifts, forklifts, etc.
- Maintain operating condition of building grounds including snow removal, lawn sprinkler system, lighting, etc.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs of all facilities equipment ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures while giving primary consideration to personal safety, and the safety of co-workers and customers.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Required qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in a Trade or Facilities Maintenance Environment.
- Must have an aptitude for problem solving and mechanical systems.
- Some overtime required.
- Heavy Lifting is required.
- Must have strong decision and leadership skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and on call availability.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, excel and outlook.
Preferred qualifications
- Trade Certification (Electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, construction).
- Experience using any related Facilities Software system.
