HIRING: Video Editor and Videographer (Calgary) Rebel News is looking for a video editor who would rather be out in the field than stuck in an edit suite. We're hiring in Calgary for someone who can shoot alongside our journalists and then turn that footage into sharp, fast-moving reports.
A successful candidate will be located in or around Calgary, hold a valid driver's licence, and be comfortable working independently in the field. An ideal candidate will also be familiar with Rebel News and/or have a strong grasp of Canadian and conservative politics and affairs.
This is not a desk job. You'll travel all over Alberta to rallies, town halls, courthouses, protests and interviews, running camera and audio on location, then editing the story and getting it published, often the same day. If you have a valid passport, we may even send you on assignment around the world.
You'll also edit videos assigned to you from other Rebel News journalists, so your weeks will mix field shoots with editing work from across our team.
Rebel News doesn't yet have a permanent journalist based in Calgary, and we're actively looking for one. You'll be a key part of building our presence in the city from the ground up.
Responsibilities:
Shoot field video alongside Rebel News journalists: interviews, b-roll, events and live scenes.
Edit news reports, interviews and short-form clips on tight deadlines, including videos assigned from other Rebel News journalists.
Travel throughout Alberta, and occasionally further afield, to cover stories.
Manage and maintain camera, audio and lighting gear.
Assist with livestreams and studio production as needed.

Graphic design and motion graphics skills are an asset.
Qualifications:
A demonstrable portfolio of both shooting and editing work.
Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro and the Creative Suite.
Hands-on camera and audio experience, including run-and-gun shooting and on-the-fly sound.
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly throughout Alberta.
A valid passport is an asset.
Ability to work independently, under pressure and on deadline.
Familiarity with YouTube and short-form platforms is an asset.
Personality:
Loves being out in the field and on the move.
Calm and professional in tense or crowded situations.
Attention to detail, professionalism, integrity and discretion.
Occasional evening and weekend work required.
Effectively able to work with a remote team.
Job type:
Full-time.
Location:
$50,000 to $65,000, depending on experience.
Full-time staff receive health perks after passing a three-month probation period.
