Position Overview The Saunameister / Aufgussmeister isresponsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and exceptional thermal spaexperience through the professional operation of sauna facilities and thedelivery of traditional and contemporary Aufguss rituals.
This position combines strong guest servicewith specialized sauna knowledge, heat management, safety awareness, and theability to confidently lead guests through guided sauna experiences. Thesuccessful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, confidence, culturalawareness, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for sauna and thermalwellness experiences.
Key Responsibilities Leading Aufguss Rituals Prepareand conduct scheduled Aufguss ceremonies and other sauna rituals.
Create awelcoming and relaxing environment for all guests of different backgrounds,abilities, and levels of sauna experience.
Brieflyexplains the experience and introduces any relevant aromas or theme, applies wateror prepared ice to the sauna stones, and uses towel techniques to circulate air.
Provideclear explanations and instructions to guests before and during each ritual.
Assistwith developing new seasonal, themed, or specialty Aufguss experiences.
Maintain acalm and qualified presence, particularly during busy periods or unexpectedsituations.
Managing Heat,



Steam and Guest Comfort Understandand control the distribution of heat and humidity throughout the sauna usingappropriate techniques while maintaining ventilation, temperature, andoperating conditions.
Monitor guests’signs of overheating, dizziness, distress, or other potential concerns andescalate to management immediately.
Reinforcethat guests may leave the sauna at any time if they become uncomfortable.
Aromatherapy and Sensory Experience Properlyprepare and use approved sauna oils, infusions, water, ice, towels, fans, andother ritual materials.
Understandappropriate products, concentrations, handling procedures, and applicationmethods of all ritual materials.
Music,lighting, storytelling, cultural elements, breathing exercises, sound, andcarefully choreographed towel movements may be integrated into the performance.
Adjust theintensity and delivery of an experience based on guest comfort, saunaconditions, and establish protocols.
Sauna Operations and Standards Ensuresauna spaces are clean, organized, safe, and properly prepared for guests.
Monitorsauna capacity and guest activity to maintain a safe and comfortableenvironment.
Conductregular inspections of sauna areas and equipment.
Identifyand report equipment concerns, maintenance requirements, or unsafe conditions.
Prepare,operate, monitor, and close sauna facilities in accordance with establishedoperating procedures.




Follow allthermal spa emergency, health, safety, and operating procedures.
Maintain awarenessof contraindications and general safety considerations associated with saunaand thermal experiences.
Guest Education and Thermal-Cycle Guidance Explainsauna etiquette, hydration, the purpose of cooling after heat exposure,appropriate recovery periods, and how the sauna experience fits within theHot-Cold-Rest thermal cycle.
Workcollaboratively with all other spa departments.
Supportfellow team members during busy periods and special events.
Participatein staff meetings and training.
Qualifications Previousexperience working in a sauna, thermal spa, wellness facility, hospitalityenvironment or related setting is considered an asset.
Previous danceor theatrical arts experience is an asset.
First Aide& CPR Certification or willingness to obtain.
Strong customerservice and communication skills.
Good understandingof workplace health and safety practices.
Must becomfortable working in a hot and humid environment for extended periods.
Ability tostand, walk, bend, lift, and safely perform physical duties associated with theposition.
Minimum 19years of age.
Ability towork flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shiftsas required.
