Finning is growing fast—and so are the opportunities! We’re hiring Heavy Duty Mechanics to support our customer in the Oil Sands at our Suncor Fort Hills location. If you have large CAT mining equipment experience this job is for you.

Job Description
Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment
Perform field diagnosis and field running repairs
Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required
Qualifications
Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
Strong field troubleshooting skills on the Caterpillar mining product line required
Field technician experience
Valid class 5 driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
Dedication to safety
Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset
Completion or be in the process of completing Finning S-level courses would also be considered an asset
Important Detail
This position will work a 14x14 shift, rotating days and nights, and will provide support to Fort Hills shop and field.
Customer provided camp and flights from Calgary or Edmonton
A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
Union Membership
You are required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted
Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement.
