This position provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management for a high-performing team of life insurance and group benefits advisors, along with the administrative and operational teams that support the department.

This role is responsible for driving business performance, advisor productivity, operational efficiency, service excellence, and team development within a dynamic insurance brokerage environment. The position acts as a key link between advisors, administrative teams, insurance carriers, senior leadership, and clients to ensure the department operates effectively and delivers a consistently high standard of service.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & People Management

- Lead, coach, and develop a team of life insurance and group benefits advisors, as well as administrative and support staff.

- Establish clear performance expectations, goals, priorities, and accountability measures.

- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, feedback, and performance management.

- Identify opportunities to develop employee capabilities, improve engagement, and support career growth.

- Foster a collaborative, positive, and high-accountability team culture.

- Manage staffing requirements, resource allocation, workload distribution, and succession planning.

Advisor Management & Business Performance

- Oversee the day-to-day performance and effectiveness of life licensed advisors.

- Support advisors in achieving business, sales, retention, and client service objectives.

- Monitor key performance indicators and identify trends, opportunities, and areas requiring improvement.

- Develop and implement strategies to improve advisor productivity and operational effectiveness.

- Ensure advisors have the tools,



resources, processes, and administrative support required to grow their practices.

- Help resolve complex client, advisor, and carrier issues and provide guidance on appropriate solutions.

Operations & Administration

- Oversee administrative processes supporting new business, renewals, policy servicing, claims, client requests, and ongoing account management.

- Ensure administrative workflows are efficient, consistent, and aligned with brokerage standards.

- Identify operational gaps and implement process improvements to reduce errors, improve turnaround times, and enhance the advisor and client experience.

- Establish appropriate workflows, procedures, and accountability between advisors and administrative teams.

- Ensure effective workload balancing and prioritization across the support team.

- Work collaboratively with internal departments to resolve operational issues and improve service delivery.

Client & Service Excellence

- Champion a high standard of client service across the department.

- Escalate and resolve complex or sensitive client and advisor concerns.

- Ensure service standards and expectations are clearly communicated and consistently delivered.

- Identify recurring service issues and implement solutions to prevent them from reoccurring.

- Build strong relationships with advisors, clients, insurance carriers, and internal stakeholders.

Carrier & Industry Relationships

- Maintain solid working relationships with insurance carriers, MGAs, and other strategic partners.

- Collaborate with carrier representatives to resolve escalated cases, underwriting issues, service concerns, and administrative challenges.

- Stay informed about changes in products, carrier practices, technology, regulations, and industry trends that may affect the department.

- Communicate relevant changes and opportunities to advisors and support teams.

Strategy & Continuous Improvement

- Partner with senior leadership to develop and execute departmental strategies and business objectives.

- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, productivity, service delivery, and scalability.

- Lead or participate in projects involving technology, workflow optimization, systems implementation, and process redesign.

- Analyze departmental data and performance metrics to support business decisions.

- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices that support consistent operations.

- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.





Risk Management & Compliance

- Ensure departmental activities are conducted in accordance with applicable insurance regulations, brokerage policies, carrier requirements, and internal controls.

- Promote appropriate documentation, privacy, compliance, and record-keeping practices.

- Identify operational and compliance risks and work with appropriate stakeholders to address them.

- Ensure advisors and administrative staff understand and follow established procedures and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

- 5+ years of experience within the life insurance, group benefits, wealth/financial services, or insurance brokerage industry.

- Proven experience managing and developing professional teams.

- Experience overseeing both revenue-generating professionals and administrative/support functions is strongly preferred.

- Strong understanding of life insurance and group benefits products, processes, and brokerage operations.

- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience developing processes, improving workflows, and implementing operational efficiencies.

- Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-management skills.

- Ability to work effectively with advisors, clients, carriers, and senior leadership.

- Life License (LLQP) is a requirement

- Relevant industry designations are an asset and will be considered favourably, but are not mandatory.
