Job Type: Temporary Full-Time
Contract: Maternity Leave Coverage
We are currently seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to join an Emergency Department team on a temporary full time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a PA who enjoys working in a fast-paced clinical setting and is comfortable providing comprehensive patient care in collaboration with Emergency Physicians and an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations.
- Assess patients, identify clinical concerns, and develop appropriate treatment and follow-up plans within the PA scope of practice.
- Work collaboratively with Emergency Physicians to assess and manage patients throughout their emergency visit.
- Perform clinical procedures that fall within the PA's scope of practice and training.
- Request and review laboratory investigations and diagnostic imaging as appropriate.
- Write medication, laboratory, and diagnostic orders within the permitted scope of practice.
- Interpret investigation results and communicate relevant findings to the treating team.
- Provide patients and families with clear information regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
- Prepare discharge documentation, prescriptions, referrals, and follow-up instructions as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records and clinical documentation.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, diagnostic imaging staff, and other members of the healthcare team to support continuity of care.
- Recognize situations requiring physician consultation and escalate appropriately.
- Participate in patient safety, quality improvement, and other clinical initiatives.
- Contribute to a patient-centred environment focused on compassionate, safe, and effective care.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current registration with, or eligibility for registration with, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Current BCLS and ACLS certification.
- Current or in-progress Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) certification is preferred.
- Previous Emergency Medicine experience is preferred.
- Experience in a rural or community Emergency Department is considered an asset.
- New graduates with the appropriate qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Pay: $40.00-$55.00 per hour
