Full-House Custom Cabinetry Designer

Company: Oppein Cabinetry Toronto
Location: GTA, Ontario
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Fixed Base Salary + Commission

About the Role

Oppein Cabinetry Toronto is looking for an experienced Senior Full-House Custom Cabinetry Designer to join our growing custom design team.

This role focuses on complete residential cabinetry and millwork packages, including kitchens, closets, vanities, wall panels, built-ins, entertainment units, home offices, wine cabinets, and other custom millwork.

We are looking for someone who can take a project from site measurement and initial concept through detailed design, client presentation, technical drawings, production, and installation coordination.

This is not simply a rendering position. The successful candidate must have strong technical cabinetry knowledge, detailed site-measurement experience, and hands-on job-site experience.

A background in interior design or experience working on full-house interior projects is a strong asset.

Key Responsibilities

- Design complete full-house custom cabinetry packages, including kitchens, closets, vanities, wall panels, built-ins, entertainment units, home offices, wine cabinets, and other custom millwork.
- Conduct detailed on-site measurements and assess job-site conditions, including walls, ceilings, openings, appliances, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and installation clearances.
- Prepare accurate floor plans, elevations, technical cabinetry drawings, and 3D renderings for client approval and production.
- Develop coordinated material, colour, door style, hardware, and finish selections throughout the home.
- Meet with homeowners, builders, contractors, and design professionals to understand project requirements, budgets, and timelines.
- Present designs and quotations, manage revisions, and guide clients through the design and selection process.
- Review measurements, appliance specifications, clearances,

and technical details before releasing orders to production.
- Work closely with sales, production, project coordination, and installation teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and installable.
- Visit job sites as required to verify measurements, identify potential issues, and assist with resolving design or installation concerns.
- Manage multiple custom projects from site measurement and design through production and installation.

Qualifications & Experience

- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in custom cabinetry, kitchen design, architectural millwork, or a related field.
- Detailed site-measurement experience is required.
- Previous job-site experience is required.
- Experience designing full-house cabinetry or high-end residential projects is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of cabinetry construction, millwork, materials, hardware, fillers, panels, moldings, and installation requirements.
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, floor plans, elevations, and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of appliance specifications, plumbing/electrical locations, dimensions, and required clearances.
- Ability to identify site conditions that may affect cabinetry design or installation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings.
- Solid communication, presentation, and client-management skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects at different stages.
- Experience working with homeowners, builders, contractors, developers, and installers is an asset.

- Interior design background or full-house interior project experience is an asset.

Software Skills

Professional experience with cabinetry and design software is required. Experience with the following is preferred:

- AutoCAD
- SketchUp
- 2020 Design / 2020 Fusion
- Chief Architect or Revit
- Enscape, V-Ray, 3ds Max, or similar rendering software
- Adobe Photoshop or similar presentation software
- Microsoft Office

Strong AutoCAD skills and the ability to produce accurate technical drawings are highly preferred.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a designer who understands that successful custom cabinetry requires more than creating attractive renderings.

The ideal candidate should be able to measure it, design it, detail it, present it, and make sure it can be manufactured and installed correctly.

You should be comfortable visiting active construction and renovation sites, taking detailed measurements, identifying potential site issues, communicating with contractors and installers, and translating actual site conditions into accurate cabinetry designs.

This is not an entry-level position and is not suitable for candidates whose experience is limited to rendering or interior decoration without technical cabinetry and job-site experience.

Compensation
