Overview

Our Housepersons are primarily responsible for maintaining clean and attractive public areas in the hotel. This includes, but is not limited to, vacuuming guest room floors/ hallways, cleaning front and back of house washrooms, cleaning elevators, brass/hand railings etc. Housepersons assist Room Attendants with stripping of room linens and at the Fort Garry Hotel, clean Ten Spa and other outlets. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to multitask.

Note: Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of two years prior experience in hotel cleaning environment.

Duties

Cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner, broom and carpet shampoo machine.

Cleans hallways and restrooms.

Washes walls and ceilings, moves furniture and turns mattresses.

Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floor.

Dusts and polishes metalwork, including brass.

Maintains housekeeping carts.

Removes trash/recycling collected by room attendants.

Pickup clean linen and refill the parstock of linen on each floor.

Deliver towels, cribs, cots and other items to the guest rooms on requests.

Perform duties of room attendant when necessary.

Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.





Perform minor repairs such as changing light bulbs.

Report any maintenance issues to the supervisor.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous two years of hotel cleaning experience.

Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Able to push and pull carts and other equipment.

Knowledge of cleaning products and equipment.

Attention to detail is vital!

Excellent communication & customer service skills.

Able to work in a quick-paced environment.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.
