Industrial Automation Systems Integrator | Rockwell PLC & Controls
Greater Toronto Area | Customer Sites Across Canada and the United States
$55 to $65 per hour plus comprehensive benefits and company perks
The Opportunity
Kellow Recruiting is partnering with an established Canadian process engineering and industrial automation company supporting some of Canada’s largest food, beverage and dairy manufacturers.
This is more than a PLC programming position. You will work across the complete automation lifecycle, taking a process design and helping turn it into a fully functioning production system through programming, systems integration, commissioning and troubleshooting.
You’ll work with the PLC, but you’ll also understand what it is controlling, how the equipment and process operate, and how the complete system works together.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, modify and troubleshoot Rockwell / Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programs
- Integrate PLC controls with motors, VFDs, valves, sensors, instrumentation, industrial networks and production equipment
- Interpret P&IDs;, electrical drawings, equipment information and operating sequences
- Support installation, I/O checkout, testing, startup and field commissioning
- Troubleshoot controls, electrical, communication and process issues in live production environments
- Work directly with customers, operators, tradespeople, engineers and internal project teams
- Maintain clear programming, commissioning and system documentation
- Take ownership of assignments from programming through successful operation
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of hands on industrial automation experience involving PLC programming, systems integration and commissioning
- Solid Rockwell / Allen Bradley experience, including Studio 5000 and ControlLogix or CompactLogix
- Practical knowledge of electrical controls, drives, motors, instrumentation and industrial networks
- Strong commissioning,
startup and troubleshooting experience
- The ability to think on your feet, work independently and solve problems in the field
- Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with customers
- Experience in food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, packaging, water/wastewater or other process industries is an asset
- Siemens, Omron, Schneider, Ignition, Wonderware or PlantPAx experience is also valuable
Technical Education
Relevant Canadian post secondary technical education is strongly preferred, including Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, Controls, Mechatronics, Computer or Programming Technology, or a closely related technical discipline.
Candidates who completed their original education internationally and have subsequently completed relevant technical education or upgrading through a recognized Canadian institution are also encouraged to apply.
The Working Environment
This is a hands on, customer facing systems integration role.
Some days you’ll be programming. Others you’ll be commissioning equipment, troubleshooting on a plant floor, working through an integration issue or helping a customer get a system operating properly.
Projects take place primarily throughout the GTA, with additional travel across Canada and the United States. A valid driver’s licence, reliable transportation, valid passport and willingness to travel are required.
Why Consider It?
You’ll work on complete industrial automation systems rather than one isolated piece of equipment and see your work move from process design and programming through integration, commissioning and live production.
You’ll join a lean, experienced technical team with significant project exposure, direct customer interaction and the chance to continue developing as a well rounded automation systems integrator.
$55 to $65 per hour plus comprehensive benefits and company perks.
