Want to spend the holidays working with (good) cheese, surrounded by even better staff and customers? We are hiring a seasonal monger for this year:
Holiday Monger:
- open to the friendliest cheese-loving folks, you’ll help serve cheese behind the counter and prep orders.
Availability: 3–5 shifts per week in December. Must be available to work daytime / evening / weekend shifts.
Availability also must include the last two weeks of December (aka crunch time!).

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Holiday Monger:
- Shaping our guests' experience from the moment they walk in the door. You welcome them, guide them through the cheese case (sample! sample! sample!), help them choose their cheese selection and suggest other products / pairings
- Taking and preparing pre orders – including grab bags, gift boxes, deconstructed boards (including evening prep shifts)
- Cutting and wrapping cheese
- Supporting fellow mongers at the counter, including grabbing labels
- Complete the sale by checking guests out through our POS system and ensuring we have met all their needs
- Maintaining and sanitizing cheese case
- Receiving products, checking that all cheeses arrive in good condition. Stocking shelves with provisions as needed
- Actively ensuring all items are rotated by LIFO / FIFO standards
- Offering customers in line a drink, snack or sample
- Ensuring the entire shop is tidy, clean and well organized throughout the day and at the end of shift
- Participating in events outside the shop on an as needed basis
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
- Must possess a passion for cheese and be committed to educating oneself in the art and science of dairy.
***experience in working with cheese is not necessary, but the expectation is that you are motivated to grow your knowledge base to a level that meets the highest standards for cheese service
- Food handlers certificate is an asset
- Driver’s license is an asset
- 18+ years of age
- Willing to be flexible, dynamic and take initiative within the framework of a growing business
Our hours of operation are currently as follows and you must be available to work your share of the evening / weekend shifts:
- Sunday (closed)
- Monday (closed, ***except during the holiday season)
- Tuesday 10-6
- Wednesday 10-6
- Thursday 10-6
- Friday 10-6
- Saturday 10-6
***Please note shifts are often scheduled prior to opening and after closing during the holiday season. In addition, we regularly schedule special events outside of shop hours; the ability to work your share of these events is a requirement.
***There are shifts scheduled from time to time outside of these hours.
***Only time off for necessities such as medical appointments will be considered for temporary holiday positions.
