Payroll & Benefits Specialist
Location: St. Thomas, ON
Work Arrangement: On-Site
A well-established organization is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join its Payroll & Total Rewards team.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for unionized hourly and salaried employees.
- Calculate overtime, shift premiums, retroactive pay, leaves, terminations, and other payroll adjustments.
- Manage payroll deductions, statutory remittances, pension contributions, union dues, and garnishments.
- Support year-end activities including T4s, pension reporting, and audits.
- Administer employee perks, pension, and retirement programs.
- Liaise with benefit providers and assist employees with payroll and benefits inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, collective agreements, and company policies.
- Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and audit documentation.
- Support payroll system upgrades, testing, and process improvements.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of payroll and benefits experience.
- Experience with high-volume, unionized payroll.
- PCP designation preferred.
- Experience with systems such as Dayforce, ADP, Workday, UKG, SAP, or similar.
- Robust knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards.
- Benefits and pension administration experience.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
