Bigstone Child & Family Services is hiring a Child Intervention Practitioner to provide assessment, case planning, child intervention, referral, court, permanency planning, and community liaison services to children, youth, and families. LOCATION: Wabasca, AB.
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full time
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete assessments and provide child intervention services in accordance with applicable legislation, standards, policies, and practice requirements
- Develop, implement, monitor, and update case plans, concurrent plans, and permanency plans with children, youth, families, and service partners
- Gather and assess relevant information to identify child and family strengths, needs, risks, and required supports
- Provide referrals and coordinate services with government departments, community agencies, professionals, and other service providers
- Prepare required documentation, reports, court materials, and case records accurately and within required timelines
- Participate in court processes and provide information or documentation as required within the scope of the position
- Build professional relationships with children, youth, families, extended family, First Nations communities, and community partners
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to urgent child and family service needs as required
- Use Signs of Safety methodology and approved practice tools in casework practice
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
- Bachelor of Social Work or Diploma in Social Work is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Minimum of two (2) years of child and family services experience is required
- Child intervention delegation through the applicable ministry, or eligibility to have delegation reinstated, is required
- Working knowledge of applicable child intervention legislation, regulations, policies, and standards
- Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle; required criminal, vulnerable sector, and intervention record checks apply
