Royal City Nursery is looking for a creative, energetic and personable Seasonal Greens & Workshop Instructor to join our team. This role combines the production of beautiful outdoor Christmas potted seasonal arrangements, wreaths and centrepieces with the opportunity to help our clients learn how to create their own.

About the Role

You’ll spend part of your time creating our popular outdoor Christmas urns and custom seasonal arrangements, using fresh-cut branches, winter greenery, and other seasonal materials, with an eye for quality, creativity and detail.

You’ll help bring our workshop program to life by leading small, hands-on classes and demonstrations for customers. Workshops may include Christmas urn and wreath making, seasonal decorating and other creative topics.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys both working with their hands and working with people.

Core Responsibilities and Skills:

- Create beautiful outdoor Christmas urns and custom seasonal arrangements, wreaths and centrepieces using fresh-cut greens, branches and decorative materials
- Prepare materials and workspaces for Christmas production and workshops
- Lead small, friendly and engaging hands-on workshops and classes
- Demonstrate techniques clearly and confidently to participants with varying levels of experience
- Help participants create projects they are proud to take home
- Create a welcoming experience for participants of all skill levels
- Provide exceptional customer service and build relationships with our clients
- Answer questions and provide knowledgeable advice about plants, greens and seasonal products
- Assist with developing workshop ideas and content
- Work independently, take initiative and take ownership of your work
- Enjoy problem solving and finding the right solution for the customer
- Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area
- Contribute to a positive, fun-loving team environment
- Represent Royal City Nursery in a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and approachable way

Physical and Working Environment Requirements:

- Able to stand, walk, kneel, for extended periods on a variety of surfaces.




- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently
- Ability to perform repeated movements such as kneeling, twisting, bending, crouching etc.
- Ability to comfortably work on a ladder or step stool
- Comfortable working in greenhouses, and other seasonal environments, including rain, snow, humidity and sun
- Please note: Must be able to work week day, evening and weekend shifts

- Experienced in floral design, horticulture, crafts or a related creative field

Previous experience in floral design, Christmas and seasonal greens, horticulture, retail service or teaching is an asset. We are also interested in people with great hands-on skills, creativity and enthusiasm.

The Details

- Seasonal position: October to mid-December, with a potential to extend the contract for spring and fall workshop seasons
- Location: Guelph, Ontario
- Hours: 4 to 5 days per week, including weekdays some evenings and some weekend days. Are required for some workshops and during busy periods
