The Opportunity:
This is an exciting time to join enCompass. We are seeking our first dedicated Fund Development Coordinator – a new role that reflects our commitment to growing philanthropy and building more sustainable, diversified revenue for the future. With a fund development strategy and foundational work already underway, this person will have the opportunity to build on that momentum, help shape a growing area of the agency, and turn strategy into meaningful relationships, opportunities and results.
Working closely with enCompass leadership and communications, the Fund Development Coordinator will help turn our fund development strategy into action. The role will support donor and partner development, grant and sponsorship opportunities, individual giving, fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, and the systems needed to keep this work organized and moving forward.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building relationships, spotting opportunities and turning ideas into action. Because this is a new role, there is real opportunity to help shape the practices, relationships and systems that will form the foundation of philanthropy at enCompass and to grow alongside the work as it evolves.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support implementation of enCompass’ fund development strategy, annual priorities, campaigns and fundraising activities.
- Research, identify and help cultivate prospective corporate, foundation and individual supporters.
- Maintain an active fundraising pipeline, including prospects, opportunities, next steps, deadlines and follow-up activities.
- Research funding opportunities and contribute to grant applications, sponsorship proposals, reports and other funding requests.
- Coordinate donor stewardship activities, including acknowledgements, recognition, impact updates, renewal communications and ongoing engagement.
- Support individual giving strategies and campaigns, including donor acquisition, retention, renewal, Giving Tuesday and year-end giving.
- Build and support corporate relationships through outreach, meetings, proposals, sponsorship opportunities and follow-up.
- Maintain accurate donor, prospect, activity and opportunity information within the fundraising CRM, and support accurate charitable receipting and record keeping.
- Work collaboratively with communications staff to develop donor-focused communications, campaign materials, impact stories and fundraising content.
- Track fundraising activity, revenue, pipeline progress and key performance indicators, providing regular updates to leadership and identifying opportunities for continued growth.
What You Bring:
- Post-secondary education in fundraising, nonprofit management, business, communications, marketing or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- 2–3 years of experience in fundraising, fund development, nonprofit development, sales, relationship management or a related area.
- Demonstrated ability to independently initiate outreach, build relationships and move opportunities from initial contact through follow-up and stewardship
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to contribute to compelling proposals, donor communications and funding applications.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills and confidence engaging with donors, businesses, community partners and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and follow-up activities.
- Experience using CRM systems or other tools to maintain accurate relationship, activity and opportunity records.
- Experience with grant writing, corporate partnerships, donor stewardship, individual giving or fundraising campaigns is considered an asset.
- Experience in the nonprofit,
human services or community sector is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of donor privacy, charitable receipting requirements, or fundraising compliance is considered an asset.
- Support fundraising and donor engagement events, including planning, logistics, sponsorship coordination and follow-up.
- Comfortable working in a developing function, taking initiative, building new processes and adapting as priorities evolve.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle are required, as travel to enCompass program sites and community locations will be part of the role.
Why Join enCompass:
- Help shape and grow an evolving fund development program.
