Registered Nurse (LPN) will provide direct care and support to children aged 0-18 with various needs. Collaboration with a team is essential, along with ensuring a safe and secure environment for the children.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide client care in alignment with the Alberta Standards of Nursing Practice. Consistently deliver client care by following the nursing process, which encompasses assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Developing and executing client care plans.
- Safely carrying out physician’s orders.
- Administering medications to clients as prescribed.
- Keeping up-to-date progress records for clients in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Guiding, facilitating, and enhancing client participation in addiction treatment.
- Monitor and promote the health and well-being of individuals, responding effectively to emergencies.
- Offering supportive counseling to clients, their families, and significant others regarding common recovery challenges.
- Fostering a therapeutic environment within the unit that promotes clients' learning of effective living patterns.
- Delivering ongoing health education to clients concerning prevalent health issues and encouraging them to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
- Coordinating appointments for clients.
- Provide crisis intervention and information regarding addiction to the public.
- Carry out daily administrative tasks and documentation related to medications and healthcare practices.
- Prepare meals and perform housekeeping tasks, which may include the upkeep of household items.
- Assist residents in achieving their daily routines in alignment with their established goals.
- Foster positive communication with all residents, professional services, families, and association staff.
- Provide transportation services as required.
- Ensure a safe working environment by utilizing appropriate protective equipment to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.
- Adhere to WHMIS and Health & Safety Act regulations.
- Uphold professionalism and safety in the workplace by refraining from activities that could cause accidents or disturbances, such as pranks, contests, feats of strength, unnecessary running, or roughhousing.
- Conduct health and safety inspections as necessary and promptly report any workplace hazards.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
QUALIFICATION:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nurses with pharmacological training.
- Registered Nurse in the Province of Alberta.
- Valid standard First Aid and level C CPR.
- Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Leadership /Charge experience preferred
- Valuable problem solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting.
- Knowledge of / experience with a team based person-centered care approach
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team
- Candidate should have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with children with developmental disabilities and behaviour management.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, interpersonal, organizational skills patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, and sensitivity towards individuals and have a passion working with children.
- Current Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training preferred.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license and a clean Drivers abstract.
- RCMP Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable and Intervention Record Check.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Position entails 30-44 hours per week.
- Hourly wage for this position is $35.00.
- Employees are entitled to health and dental benefits.

- Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting.
- Smoke-free environment and undergoes regular health and safety inspections to ensure compliance.
- Complete necessary documentation in accordance with our Policies and Procedures, as well as the requirements set forth by the Ministry of Community and Social Services requirements.
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 44 per week
