French Teacher / Tutor — Independent Contractor (Freelance)

About the opportunity

Le Petit Écolier is seeking experienced, engaging French teachers to deliver small-group and private lessons for children, teenagers, and/or adults.

We welcome educators who can make French accessible, build learners’ confidence, and adapt their lessons to different ages and proficiency levels. Please indicate which age groups and programs match your experience.

Teaching opportunities are based on student enrolment, program needs, and mutually agreed availability. A fixed number of weekly teaching hours is not guaranteed.

Teaching responsibilities

- Prepare and deliver engaging French lessons that develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
- Use the centre’s selected learning resources and adapt activities to students’ levels and goals.
- Support beginners, French Immersion students, and other learners according to your experience.
- Create a welcoming learning environment with clear expectations and effective classroom management.
- Track attendance and student progress, and provide constructive feedback.
- Use Google Classroom to share lesson materials, homework, and progress updates.
- Communicate professionally with the centre and families about learning needs and progress.
- Honour agreed teaching commitments and communicate availability changes promptly.





Qualifications

- Excellent spoken and written French, with sufficient English to communicate effectively with families and the centre.
- Previous experience teaching French or providing French tutoring.
- Ability to plan and deliver lessons independently.
- Solid organisation, reliability, and classroom management skills.
- Confidence using Google Classroom and basic digital teaching tools.
- Relevant education, language-teaching, or early childhood qualifications are an asset.
- Experience teaching adults or preparing learners for TEF/TCF is an asset for relevant assignments.

Contractor arrangement

- Services are provided under a written independent contractor agreement.
- Teaching assignments and schedules are agreed according to availability and enrolment.
- Compensation and the scope of services—including lesson preparation, Google Classroom updates, and progress reporting—are agreed before an assignment begins.
- Contractors invoice the centre for services in accordance with their agreement.

We are looking for educators who are comfortable managing their teaching responsibilities independently and committed to helping students make meaningful progress in French.

Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2.0 – 20.0 per week
