Restoration Technician
ACTA Building Concepts
Location: Lower Mainland, British Columbia
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $35.00–$45.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
About the Position
ACTA Building Concepts is looking for an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Restoration Technician to join our growing team in the Lower Mainland.
This is a hands-on restoration position. We are looking for someone who can assist with emergency water-damage response and drying, but importantly, can also perform the actual restoration and repair work required to return affected areas to their pre-loss condition.
The ideal candidate has broad construction and finishing skills and is comfortable working on projects from initial demolition and drying through to drywall, painting, flooring, trim, and final completion.
Responsibilities
The Restoration Technician will be responsible for a combination of emergency restoration and reconstruction work, including:
- Responding to water-damage and other property restoration emergencies
- Water extraction and removal of damaged building materials
- Setting up and monitoring air movers, dehumidifiers, and drying equipment
- Taking moisture readings and documenting drying progress
- Installing containment and protecting occupied areas before work begins
- Performing selective demolition of drywall, ceilings, flooring, baseboards, insulation, cabinetry, and other affected materials
- Drywall installation and repairs, including boarding, taping, mudding, sanding, and preparing surfaces for finishing
- Interior painting, including preparation, priming, colour matching, and finish coats
- Flooring removal and installation, including laminate, vinyl plank, engineered flooring, and other common residential flooring products
- Installing and repairing baseboards, trim, casings, doors, and other finishing materials
- Minor carpentry and general construction repairs
- Ceiling and wall repairs following water damage
- Preparing floors and other surfaces for new finishes
- Completing deficiencies and final touch-ups
- Cleaning and preparing completed areas for turnover to owners or residents
- Taking before, during, and after photographs and properly documenting completed work
- Maintaining clean, organized, and secure job sites
- Communicating professionally with homeowners, tenants, strata representatives, property managers, and other trades
- Providing project managers with accurate field updates
- Maintaining company tools, equipment, and vehicles
- Participating in after-hours emergency response when required
Restoration & Construction Skills
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Drywall installation and repair
- Taping, mudding, and finishing
- Interior painting and surface preparation
- Flooring installation and repair
- Baseboard, trim, and casing installation
- Minor carpentry
- Door and hardware installation
- Ceiling repairs
- Demolition and reconstruction
- Water-damage restoration and structural drying
- General residential renovation and repair work
Experience in all of these areas is not required, but the ability to perform multiple restoration and finishing trades is a significant asset and will be reflected in compensation.
We are looking for a technician who is comfortable picking up tools and actually performing the restoration work, rather than simply setting up drying equipment or supervising subcontractors.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in restoration, construction, renovations, or residential repairs
- Hands-on experience with drywall, painting, flooring, carpentry,
or finishing work is strongly preferred
- Water-damage restoration experience is an asset
- Experience using moisture meters, air movers, dehumidifiers, extraction equipment, and containment systems is an asset
- IICRC certification is an asset but not mandatory
- Good understanding of construction materials and repair methods
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues in the field
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Professional and respectful communication skills
- Comfortable working in occupied condominiums and residential properties
- Physically capable of performing restoration and construction work, including lifting equipment and building materials
- Valid BC driver's licence
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to travel throughout the Lower Mainland
- Availability for occasional evenings, weekends, and emergency calls
Compensation
$35.00–$45.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, certifications, and the candidate's ability to independently perform restoration and reconstruction work.
Candidates with strong multi-trade capabilities — particularly drywall, painting, flooring, carpentry, and restoration experience — will be considered toward the higher end of the compensation range.
Opportunities may also be available for overtime and after-hours emergency work.
Who We're Looking For
ACTA is looking for someone who is reliable, skilled, practical, hardworking, and accountable.
We value technicians who can look at a damaged area, understand what needs to be done, and help take the project from demolition and drying through reconstruction, finishing, and final turnover.
Experience working in condominiums, strata properties, apartment buildings, and occupied residential environments is particularly valuable.
