Location: Richmond, BC (Richlea Square – No. 3 Rd & Williams Rd)

Company: Casestudy Cafe

Pay: Starting at $20.00 per hour (with reviews based on performance and experience) + equal pooled tips

Job Types: Full-time (38–40 hours/week), Part-time (18–20 hours/week), Permanent

About Us

Casestudy Cafe is a cozy, neighborhood-rooted coffee shop built right where I grew up. Having spent my childhood walking these exact Richmond blocks around Richlea Square, opening this space is a passion project to give our local community a warm, unpretentious living room to slow down, connect, and chill out.

Our goal is simple: create a comfortable everyday hangout spot with sincere hospitality, paired with an uncompromising coffee and food program. Behind the counter, we operate with a relaxed neighborhood vibe, a curated soundtrack, and an ergonomic bar setup featuring commercial precision espresso machinery and high-speed ventless sandwich ovens.

Whether someone is catching up with neighbors, studying for afternoon classes, or grabbing a morning brew, Casestudy is built by locals, for locals. We're looking for passionate team members who want to help shape this community staple from day one.

The Role & Your Station

As our Barista, you own the coffee bar. You will operate a dedicated, solo extraction and texturing station while an expediter/cashier handles POS orders, batch drip coffee, pastry plating, table drops, and dish loops. We offer both morning shifts and afternoon shifts across the week.

- Dial-In & Extraction: Calibrate single-origin espresso recipes daily by dose, yield,

and shot time to maintain clarity and crema quality.
- Milk Texturing: Steam silky microfoam to precise drink temperatures and pour clean latte art across traditional sizes (cortados, flat whites, cappuccinos, and lattes).
- Specialty Craft Builds: Build signature layered beverages, including hot Einspänners, iced espresso tonics, and ceremonial Uji matcha lattes.
- Bar Care & Sanitation: Perform routine group-head flushes, steam wand purges, backflushing cycles, and maintain an organized, spotless bar workstation.

What We Offer

- Starting wage of $20.00/hr, with structured wage reviews based on performance, consistency, and experience.
- Equal pooled card and cash tips.
- Consistent scheduling: Full-Time (38–40 hours/week) or Part time (18–20 hours/week) across morning and afternoon shifts.
- A streamlined bar workflow where the cashier and floor expediter handle bussing, register lines, and dishwashing for you.
- Free shift coffee and staff discounts on food and retail beans.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Experience: 1+ years of commercial barista experience in a specialty coffee, third-wave, or high-volume espresso setting.
- Espresso Knowledge: Solid understanding of grinder calibration, yield ratios, channeling prevention, and milk steaming mechanics.
- Speed & Cleanliness: Ability to keep drink queues moving smoothly during rushes while maintaining clean equipment surfaces.
- Certifications: FoodSafe Level 1 is an asset (or willingness to obtain prior to start).

Work Location: In person at #108 – 10151 No. 3 Road, Richmond, BC.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20.0 per week

Work Location: In person
