Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Packaging Supervisor to oversee operations at a leading deli meat manufacturing facility. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient packaging processes, maintaining high standards of quality, and fostering continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will lead a team of packaging operators, coordinate with production and supply chain departments, and implement best practices to optimize throughput and product integrity. Duties
- Supervise daily packaging operations within the deli meat plant, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Coordinate with production teams to meet daily output targets while maintaining optimal workflow.
- Monitor and improve packaging processes through lean manufacturing principles and process improvement strategies.
- Utilize ERP systems, including SAP and other Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) tools, to track inventory levels, production schedules, and supply chain logistics.
- Ensure compliance with quality control protocols by conducting regular inspections and documentation.
- Lead efforts in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and enhancing product quality.
- Record and report accurate packaging counts, machine speeds, scrap counts, line downtime and other data as required
- Ensure accurate supply of materials
- Practice Lean Manufacturing as a business method
- Ensure the identification of product quality problems and implementation of corrective actions
- Responsible for using the correct product labour/speed standard
- Track and report on Equipment downtime and Equipment needs to the Maintenance division
- Provide training and mentorship to packaging staff on equipment operation, safety procedures, and process standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to address mechanical issues promptly and minimize downtime.
- Support the integration of new packaging technologies or equipment to enhance operational capabilities.
- Maintain accurate records of production metrics, safety incidents, and process deviations for reporting purposes.
- Supervise activities of packaging lines to achieve packaging rates that meet or exceed standards
- Train and performance-manage team members to ensure that each line is staffed with qualified and motivated employees. Ensure new and existing employees are properly trained on SOP's and GMP and that training records are completed and maintained properly.
- Maintain, approve and schedule attendance of staff for shifts
- Perform all work in accordance with established regulatory, compliance and safety requirements
- Proven experience in manufacturing supervision within a food processing or packaging environment.
- Mechanical knowledge related to packaging machinery and equipment operations
- Requirements:
- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in a Supervisory / Lead role in the Food manufacturing industry
- Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Familiarity with quality control standards specific to deli meats or similar perishable products a definite asset
- Ability to mentor and train incoming staff to meet company established standards
- Prior experience working with assembly lines and implementing continuous improvement strategies is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate teams and collaborate across departments.This role offers an engaging setting for professionals committed to operational excellence in food manufacturing. Pay: $65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
