Electrician

Pay: $45 - $50 per hour

Shift: Days (M-F 7am-3:30pm) + Overtime

Location: Ottawa, ON

Responsibilities

- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, drawings, and equipment layouts.
- Install, maintain, inspect, and repair a wide range of electrical and electronic equipment, including motors, lighting systems, generators, switchgear, controls, alarms, and power distribution systems.
- Diagnose electrical faults and equipment malfunctions using various electrical testing and diagnostic instruments.
- Perform electrical testing, preventive maintenance, inspections, and corrective repairs to ensure reliable and safe equipment operation.
- Develop and follow maintenance procedures, testing methods, and safety practices in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot computerized Building Management Systems (BMS) supporting facility operations, environmental controls, and energy management.
- Assist with electrical system design, equipment layouts, specifications, modifications, and installation planning.
- Maintain accurate computerized maintenance records and identify requirements for replacement parts, materials, and equipment.
- Update electrical drawings, schematics, and documentation to accurately reflect equipment and system modifications.
- Provide technical electrical support during facility emergencies and respond promptly to equipment or system issues.




- Ensure all electrical work is performed in accordance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.

Qualifications

- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Diploma or certificate in Electrical Technology or a related electrical trade program.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a qualified/journeyperson electrician.
- Ontario Construction & Maintenance Electrician license with Interprovincial Red Seal certification.
- Robust ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
- Ability to prepare basic electrical drawings, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and safe work practices.
- Experience working with high- and low-voltage electrical systems and switchgear.
- Proficiency in the use of electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate technical documentation, maintenance procedures, and work instructions.
- Ability to identify and work with colour-coded electrical wiring and components.
- Experience operating and maintaining computerized Building Management Systems and related control equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
