About the Position

Global Emission Systems Inc. is seeking an experienced Buyer / Purchasing Specialist to join our manufacturing operation in Whitby, Ontario.

This position is responsible for day-to-day purchasing, inventory replenishment, supplier follow-up and expediting to ensure materials are available to support production and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate has experience purchasing within a manufacturing setting, is highly organized, and is comfortable working with suppliers, inventory, ERP systems and multiple competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities

- Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, components and other production requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and generate purchase orders to maintain appropriate stock levels and support production requirements.
- Expedite open purchase orders and proactively follow up with suppliers regarding late or at-risk deliveries.
- Investigate and resolve supplier, shipping, pricing and delivery issues.
- Work with suppliers to improve delivery performance, lead times and overall service.
- Review supplier pricing and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved purchasing efficiency.




- Assist with inventory control and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Coordinate with Production, Customer Service, Sales and other departments regarding material availability and requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing information within the ERP system.
- Assist with purchasing and inventory reports as required.
- Participate in process-improvement initiatives related to purchasing, inventory and supply chain activities.

Qualifications

- 3+ years of purchasing, procurement or buyer experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong supplier communication and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
