About the Role

Help children and families build stronger connections and work toward a safe, successful reunification.

At Worth Resolving Youth & Family Services, our Family Support Workers combine supervised visitation with practical support, skill development, and individualized planning. Through caring, trusting relationships, you will help parents recognize their strengths, understand and address the concerns that brought Children’s Services into their lives, and make meaningful progress toward their family’s goals.

This role is suited to a compassionate, experienced professional who enjoys hands-on work with families and can bring encouragement, clear boundaries, and sound judgment to challenging situations.

What You’ll Do

- Provide safe transportation and supervise visits between children, youth, and their families.
- Build and maintain trusting, therapeutic relationships that support engagement, accountability, and growth.
- Develop individualized service plans that address Children’s Services concerns and support family reunification goals.
- Teach and model parenting, communication, social, and daily living skills using practical approaches tailored to each family’s strengths and needs.
- Support families through stressful situations and crises using trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and problem-solving strategies.
- Help clients develop healthy relationships, set achievable goals, and strengthen their support networks.
- Assess strengths, needs, and progress through observation, service planning, assessments, and outcome measures.
- Prepare accurate, timely, and objective documentation of visits, services provided, safety concerns, and progress toward goals.




- Create an environment where children and families feel safe, respected, accepted, and supported.
- Collaborate with Children’s Services workers and other professionals, attend case meetings, and attend court when requested.
- Seek guidance from agency Directors when concerns or questions arise.
- Participate in ongoing training required by Worth Resolving Youth & Family Services and the Canadian Accreditation Council.
- Follow agency policies, health and safety guidelines, and applicable public health protocols.

What You Bring

- A degree or diploma in a Human Services field.
- At least three years of experience working with children and families
- A strong understanding of child development and healthy, developmentally appropriate parenting practices.
- Experience providing practical family support, teaching skills, and using strengths-based, trauma-informed approaches.
- Training in Trauma-Informed Care and Foundations of Caregiver Support.
- Knowledge of and experience with outcome measurement.
- Familiarity with Children’s Services, applicable child and family services legislation, and the Signs of Safety framework.
- The ability to recognize, respond to, and report concerns involving child abuse or family violence.




- Knowledge of child and family safety practices in homes, vehicles, and community settings.
- A commitment to culturally responsive practice and an inclusive, affirming approach to LGBTQ2+ children, youth, and families.
- Robust verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making skills.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and other professionals.
- Reliability, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to changing family needs and circumstances.

Additional Requirements

- Clear Intervention Record Search and Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
- A personal vehicle in safe, reliable operating condition.
- A valid, full Class 5 driver’s licence, outside the Graduated Driver Licensing program, with fewer than six demerit points.
- Vehicle insurance with a minimum of $2,000,000 in liability coverage.

Schedule and Availability

This position requires daytime availability, two to three evenings per week, and one weekend day. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
