The successful candidate will professionally represent SeedMaster and work closely with our dealer network. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving annual territory sales objectives. Major activities are focused on growing SeedMaster’s dealer business by establishing strong productive relationships with the territory dealers and building sales through consistent and timely sales support and technical advice to SeedMaster dealers and customers.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Sales and Business Growth
- Achieve departmental and personal goals as developed with the Director of Sales.
- Develop territory sales plans and forecasts to achieve assigned revenue targets and provide accurate forecasting based on market and economic conditions.
- Meet or exceed revenue targets by promoting and selling agricultural machinery, parts, or whole goods.
- Assist dealers in quoting, program application and deal analysis.
Product Knowledge
- Be a product expert for your dealers on features, benefits, and technical aspects of all products in the SeedMaster product line.
- Support dealers and customers with in-field start-up and optimization to ensure equipment is properly configured for maximum performance.
Dealer and Channel Management
- Manage and cultivate relationships with dealers in the territory.
- Support, train, and collaborate with local dealers and distribution partners to maximize retail output.
- Prospect for potential future locations and owner groups where opportunity exists.
On-Farm Prospecting
- Conduct regular farm visits, field days, and support dealer product demonstrations to connect with end-users and identify new accounts.
- Follow up with customers participating in demonstrations and trials.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing trends, and regional farming shifts.
- Report on technological and agronomic changes.
- Share current product opportunities and improvements that provide increased sales.
Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of interactions, sales opportunities and forecasts.
- Communicate successes, challenges, concerns, and opportunities openly with SeedMaster management.
- Conduct Dealer performance reviews, manage the territory sales pipeline and complete required reporting on time.
Perform other related duties as reasonably assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Business, or Marketing is valued.
- 4+ years of sales experience in the agricultural industry is preferred.
- Formal training in Agriculture and Ag business is an asset.
- Demonstrated expertise in Territory Management and growing sales.
- Independent and self-motivated while also a strong team collaborator.
- Strong selling, planning, strategy, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent planning and organization.
- Interpersonal skills, relationship development and public speaking skills.
- High Level of competence with Windows and Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with operating, setting, and troubleshooting farm machinery is essential (tractors, seeding equipment, rate control consoles).
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Agriculture/manufacturing environment.
- Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory, including regular overnight travel. Hands-on technical support on farm (product training, troubleshooting, field demonstrations).
- Ability to climb on agricultural equipment, work outdoors on uneven terrain and occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
This position requires a flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings and weekends during peak agricultural seasons. Compensation and time-off arrangements will be administered in accordance with applicable employment standards and SeedMaster policies.
