Located in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, the RBC Convention Centre is Manitoba's premier event facility. From conferences and conventions to banquets, trade shows and large-scale events, our team works behind the scenes to transform our spaces and create outstanding experiences for every event and every guest.

Position Overview

Our Set-Up team plays an important role in bringing events to life at the RBC Convention Centre.

Set-Up team members are responsible for transforming our event spaces by setting up and tearing down furniture and equipment for a wide variety of events. This is a hands-on, physically active role that requires teamwork, reliability and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced event environment.

We are currently recruiting for Irregular Part-Time positions. As our operation is driven by the events taking place at the Centre, work schedules vary based on operational requirements. Open availability is required, including early mornings, days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

- Set up and tear down tables, chairs, dance floors, podiums, staging, pipe and drape and other event equipment and furnishings.
- Configure event spaces according to event requirements, including the movement and placement of air walls.
- Reset event spaces following events or prepare rooms for the next scheduled event.
- Safely lift, carry, push and pull event equipment and furnishings.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and communicate special instructions to the appropriate department leader.




- Work collaboratively with Set-Up team members and other departments to meet event requirements and timelines.
- Maintain clean, secure and organized work areas before, during and after events.
- Follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Complete assigned work safely, efficiently and within required timelines.

Job Requirements

- Open availability to work varied shifts, including early mornings, days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing and walking for extended periods and safely lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling equipment and furnishings.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Comfortable working in a physically active, fast-paced event environment.
- Good interpersonal, communication and guest service skills.
- A courteous, professional and proactive approach.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

This position is covered by the Collective Agreement between the Convention Centre Corporation and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 500. The starting wage is $17.29 per hour, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
