STANG Group owns and operates multiple franchise restaurants in Ontario. We currently have 20 operating restaurants with a few more on the way.
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper to manage financial records and ensure accurate bookkeeping for our organization. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in accounting software, payroll, and account reconciliation, contributing to the overall financial health and compliance of the company. This role offers an opportunity to work with a dynamic team and utilize your expertise in various accounting functions.
Duties
- Record daily financial transactions in Sage (receipts, invoices/payments, bank and credit card transactions etc.).
- Manage full cycle accounts payable, correspondence with vendors, processing payment using EFTs, and maintaining records of invoices and supporting documents.
- Process company payrolls in Sage (salaries paid out via direct deposit). Calculate payroll deductions and submit payments to government. Issue employee ROEs as required. WSIB Reporting on quarterly basis.
- Record revenue based on information received from various departments.
- Monitor cash positions in bank accounts and assist in cash management.
- Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations periodically for multiple accounts.
- Prepare quarterly GST/HST payable schedules and timely payments to Government.
- Processing inter-company reconciliations, adjustments, journal entries, and balancing the General Ledger (month, quarter, year-end).
- Prepare and analyze monthly reporting packages, dashboards, budgets, and forecasts for management review.
- Reconciliations of accounts at period end to identify any errors or duplications in records.
- Work with the CPA to file year end corporate taxes for each of the restaurants
- Maintain supporting documentation and proper filing system for all financial transactions.
- Additional tasks and ad hoc projects as assigned by Owners.
- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities and resolve issues promptly
- Prepare financial reports and assist with budgeting processes for different companies
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies
- Support audit preparations by providing necessary documentation and explanations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in bookkeeping.
- Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles, with proficiency in accounting software Sage or QuickBooks (Sage preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advance skills in Excel.
- Strong accounting and analytical skills.
- Excellent ability to organize, manage multiple tasks and prioritize to meet hard deadlines.
- Works well independently, takes initiative and is proactive.
- Superb attention to detail with high level of accuracy.
- Able to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, payroll processing, and financial reporting
- Experience with account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis
- Knowledge of budgeting processes and financial statement preparation is preferred
- Prior experience in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards is a plus.

Pay: $42,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
