A Chinese/Mandarin speaking Personal Support Worker (PSW) is required to provide in-home support for a client requiring assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).

PSW support is recommended to assist with personal care, daily routines, and promoting safety and independence following bilateral finger amputations.

Fluency in Chinese/Mandarin is required, as the client does not understand English. The PSW will assist with communication, personal care needs, and daily activities while providing respectful, client-centred support.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Following the care plan, observing and reporting any substantial findings and/or changes in patient/resident/client’s behavior to the appropriate registered member of the healthcare team.
- Perform tasks delegated to them (only if they are trained to perform the delegated task)
- Assisting or providing total personal care such as toileting, bathing, and perineal care.
- Assisting with eating, dressing, and grooming.
- Assisting with light housekeeping duties, including cooking.
- Performing sitter duty or patient watch for confused patients in clinical care settings.
- Computer or paper documentation of Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) and other findings.
- Reporting Behavioural and clinical changes to a Registered Nurse,



Registered Practical Nurse, Resource Nurse, or Manager.
- Self-actualization by helping patient/resident/client to reach maximum potential.

Qualifications

- Personal support worker certificate from a designated institution.
- Must have experience providing care to clients living with dementia.
- Must possess strong written and oral communication, problem solving, decision making skills, and time management skills.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Complete Immunization Record.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Community experience is an asset!
- Great communication skills.
