About the Job
Want steady winter hours and a crew that takes pride in the work?
Join Terrace Group as a Snow Removal Walkway Technician. We're a commercial snow removal company. We're not a company that does snow in the winter to make ends meet. Our walkway crews are a dedicated team, separate from our loader and skid steer operators. Their job is to make sure every sidewalk, entrance, ramp, and stairway on our commercial properties is clear, safe, and done right after every snowfall.
You'll work on routes across Winnipeg, clearing and treating walkways to a 24-hour completion standard after snowfall ends. Properties are always done, never missed or skipped. If you like tight crews, visible results, and finishing what you start, you'll fit right in.
Role (Execution-First)
Clear and treat commercial walkways to Terrace standards. Follow dispatch, work alongside your route lead, and leave every property safe, documented, and done.
What You'll Do
- Walkway Clearing: Clear sidewalks, entrances, ramps, stairs, and loading-door access using shovels, snow blowers, and air blowers.
- Ice Management: Scrape ice and apply sand or ice melt with spreaders to keep walking surfaces safe for tenants and the public.
- Route Execution: Work through assigned commercial routes during and after snowfall, including overnight and early-morning storm response.
- Driving & Logistics: Drive Class 5 crew vehicles with trailers between sites, safely transporting blowers, tools, and materials.
- Equipment Care: Check equipment before and after each shift, keep blowers fuelled and ready,
and report defects right away.
- Documentation: Take before-and-after photos at every property, log arrival and completion times, and track material use through our mobile app.
What Success Looks Like
- Mastery of the Standard: You know exactly what a finished walkway looks like, with edges clean, entrances clear, and ice treated, and you deliver it every time.
- On-Time Completion: Routes are finished within the service window, with no missed or skipped properties.
- Safety & Care: Zero preventable incidents. You keep strong habits on slippery surfaces and take care of the equipment.
- Accurate Records: Your photos, time logs, and material tracking are complete at every stop.
- Team Growth: You earn positive client feedback, strong quality scores, and steady progression toward Walkway Lead.
You Bring
- Valid Class 5 licence with a clean abstract (no at-fault accidents in the last year).
- No experience required. Snow removal, landscaping, or construction experience is a bonus, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are what count.
- CSA-approved steel-toe winter boots (mandatory).
- The ability to do sustained physical work outdoors, including shovelling, lifting up to 50 lbs, and walking routes for extended periods.
- Availability for overnight, early-morning, weekend, and holiday call-outs during snow events.
- Reliable phone access and comfort using a mobile app for photos and logs.
Worksite Reality
Snow season is high-intensity by design. When it snows, we go. That can mean 12+ hour shifts, overnight starts, and work through storms in -30°C temperatures and blowing snow. Traction aids are mandatory for all walkway work, and we'll show you how to work safely on ice. If you want a crew that shows up when everyone else is staying home, this is it.
Pay & Perks
- Competitive Pay: $20.00/hour base, $30.00/hour on walkway routes, plus overtime
- Benefits: Extended health care, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
- Growth:
